The book "A Way of Seeing Zurich" uses the wall paintings of the Hotel Adler as a starting point and takes hotel guests and inhabitants of Zurich on six impressionistic walks through the Old Town.

The 52 large wall paintings in the hotel rooms depicting an Old Town scene have met with such success since their creation that the Hotel Adler decided to publish the book

The local historian Roman G. Schönauer uses the series of paintings as a starting point for six walks around the city centre. Similar to a guided tour, the book picks up on themes of the local history in a lively manner.
 
The book is intended for the guests of the Hotel Adler but is equally of interest to the inhabitants of Zurich who admire their home town.
